We are proud to offer this specific coin for sale for the first time in over 70 years.

1914 is the last official year 4 Ducats were struck for circulation. Gold content = 0.4430 troy ounces of pure gold. This date in high grade is rarely offered for sale. Gold Ducats were first issued by Austria in 1612. The last official issue of the Austrian 4 ducat gold coins were produced in 1914. All 4 ducats dated 1915 are re-strikes, with 496,501 struck between 1920 and 1936. Four ducat coins dated 1915 are still being produced by the Austrian Mint as official re-strikes. All original Austria 4 Ducats are .986 pure gold, have designs similar to medieval gold coins, and all commemorate the Emperor Franz Joseph I who died in 1916.
