This 1997 Canada $1 10th Anniversary of the Loon Sterling Silver Proof Flying Loon Coin is a tribute to one of Canada's most iconic bird species. It should be noted that the unique sounds of the loon is symbolic of Canada's North. The images of this coin are collaboratively performed by the following artists: Jean-Luc Grondin, Sheldon Beveridge, and Dora de Pédery-Hunt.
The Flying Loon one dollar coin was issued only in the "Oh Canada!" and Specimen sets of 1997. The sterling silver Flying Loon was issued singly.
