Important Hudson’s Bay Company Alaskan carved Walrus Ivory Cribbage Board circa: 1912 from the historic collection of John Bartleman HBC Chief Factor, Manager, and Chief Fur Trader for HBC Mackenzie-Keewatin Outposts 1913-1950.
Another HBC trade artifact considered by John Bartleman to be one of his most essential possessions for inter-active pastime with his traders & friends at many of the Hudson’s Bay Company Forts & Trading Posts under his jurisdiction. One of the finest, most intricate, and historically significant Alaskan carved Walrus tusk ivory cribbage boards that has ever been offered for sale.
This carving consists of nine carved animal effigies that include Walrus, Seals, two Billikens, and a bird head believed to be a Cormorant, or an Alaskan Black Footed Albatross. Red, green, and black pigments serve to highlight and enhance this excellent carving.
