1/25 oz Pure Gold Coin
2011 Canadian 50-Cent Canada Geese 1/25 oz Pure Gold Coin
This pure gold coin features a flock of Canada Geese – arguably the most widely known goose species in North America. Its black head and neck with white "chinstrap" distinguish it from most other goose species and its distinctive honking call is a true sign of spring and autumn for those living under their migratory flight-path.
The Great Lakes region maintains a very large population of Canada Geese. With nests typically located in elevated areas near streams, lakes and ponds, these birds are known to mate for life while also keeping their young for several months after hatching.
Males are generally larger than females ranging from 76 to 110 cm (30 to 43 in.) long with a wingspan reaching 127 to 170 cm (50 to 67 in.).
Features
- Previous coins in the series: 2004 Moose, 2005 Voyageur, 2006 Cowboy, 2007 Wolf, 2008 de Havilland beaver, 2009 Red Maple and 2010 RCMP.
